Sock Features

Hover over the highlighted areas below to learn about the special features of this sock.

Welt Cuff
This sock features a welt-cuff. A welt-cuff is a double layer of knit fabric. This is an attractive and durable cuff that will not stretch out.
Leg
The leg of this sock is a quarter length so it comes over the ankle bone. This sock features comfortable terry loop on the back. The front shin portion of the leg features thin mesh knit with terry loop on the inside.
Top of Foot (Instep)
A thin mesh knit really helps to cool down your feet. It also reduces the total bulkiness of the sock.
Heel
The heel is made of the same terry loop as the sole and the arch of the foot. The heel is reinforced for longer wear.
Toe
This closure is stitched loop-for-loop on the knitting machine to produce a seamless closure on the inside and outside of the sock. This reduces blisters caused by bunched up sock material. The toe is also reinforced for longer wear.
Bottom of Foot (Sole)
The sole is made with comfortable terry loop. This loop provides cushioning and has a very soft feel. This sole is medium cushioned.

Sockspert Opinions

John's Thoughts

This sock reminds me of one of my favorite athletic socks, the Wigwam Cool-Lite Pro. In many ways, it is a hiking oriented sock based on the same materials, construction and philosophy. While not a merino wool sock like I typically wear, it has much of the same soft comfort. I'm picky about my socks, especially if I'm wearing them on a long hike. Because it has almost no leg length, this sock is cooler than the crew version of this sock.

It is not uncommon to see this sock being used as an athletic sock. If you like the Wigwam Cool-Lite Pro but want a little more substance to your sock. This is a good choice.

For some reason, Darren thinks the Cool-Lite Pro is a great sock for sandals. I recently had someone stop by and point at Darren's feet and ask if that was "cool" to do. I just shook my head. It may be comfortable, but it is not cool. Sorry Darren.

Great sock for sandals!

FAQ

Q. Is this sock just like the Cool Lite Hiker Pro Crew just shorter?
A. In construction it is very similar. However, our testing shows that the leg of the sock isn't just shorter but a little thinner too. If you like the crew, it will feel the same on your feet.
