Sockspert Opinions

John's Thoughts

People often ask me what is our warmest sock. The Canada is what I often tell them. With a substantial volume of wool and acrylic, this sock has great insulating properties. I will warn you, this is a very warm sock. Probably too warm for most situations.

When I think of this sock I think of one thing, ice fishing. There is nothing that I'm aware of that saps the heat out of your feet faster than sitting a bucket on a frozen lake with the wind whipping across your body. This is exactly what this sock was designed to do, keep you warm when you're not active. By the way, if you're lucky enough to own an ice shanty and do your ice fishing from the heated confines, this sock will be too warm for you. This sock is for the brave souls that venture out on the ice with a white 5 gallon pail, an ice auger, a rod and a few tip-ups.

If you want a warm sock for active sports, we have many choices, this is just not one of them. It is so warm that you'll get too hot. That doesn't make this a bad sock, it just isn't a sock for cross-country skiing.

FAQ

Q. Is this your thickest sock?
A. No, it is not technically our thickest sock. However, it is our thickest boot length sock. The extra length provides extra warmth. So while it may not be the thickest sock we sell, it it generally considered our warmest.
